Let me skip straight to it — the thing that changed everything for my blog wasn’t a new recipe, better camera, or fancy plugin.
It was SEO—search engine optimization.
Not glamorous. Not fast. But the shift that finally helped my work get seen.
If you’ve been pouring your heart into blogging and wondering why no one’s reading your posts either, this might be why.
SEO simply means setting up your posts so search engines like Google can show them to the right readers.
When I first started blogging, my goal was simple: to help families eat well without all the processed junk. As a former IT professional, the tech part came easy. But marketing? Getting discovered? That part was a mystery.
I kept creating, posting, and praying someone would find it. But nothing moved. And after a while, I started wondering if maybe I’d missed the mark—if this whole blogging thing wasn’t part of the plan after all.
What I Realized
One night, after another round of “should I just quit?” prayers, it finally clicked: The problem wasn’t my content—it was my discoverability.
Everyone says, “Just make great content and people will find you.” But no one tells you how they’re supposed to find you.
And that’s when I turned to AI.
How AI Changed My Approach
I opened ChatGPT and said something like,
I’m a busy mom with low blog engagement and only a few minutes to work at a time. I know SEO matters, but I get overwhelmed by all the settings. Please explain it simply and show me what’s best for each section.
Then I’d highlight a section in my post — titles, keywords, alt tags, slugs, descriptions, and every little box that asked for input.
I didn’t just copy and paste whatever it gave me—I used it as a guide, learning as I went, and tailoring every change to fit my voice and my readers. That made all the difference.
Little by little, my traffic started to grow.
I remember one afternoon, refreshing my stats while my little one played nearby, and seeing those first trickles of traffic. It wasn’t just numbers—it was proof that people were finally finding what I’d worked so hard to share.
It was never about pageviews—it was about finally reaching the people God meant for me to help.
Then I took that same mindset to Pinterest—and that’s where things really took off. One of my posts gained traction within 48 hours.
But that’s a story for the next post in this series.

AI may have helped refine this post, but every idea, recipe, and opinion is 100% mine. I thought it, cooked it, and tasted it—AI is just the assistant, not the chef. No robots were harmed (or fed) in the making of this content!
