When I first saw this strange fruit, I swore it was right out of a science fiction movie. I just knew it was going to jump up and attack me. This is one of the many surprises you get when you visit your local Farmers Market. I have never seen such a vegetable in my local grocery store or any of the natural food stores. After walking past his booth several times, I finally struck up the nerve to ask the Farmer…”err, what is that?”. After a quick chat, I was convinced to giving it a try. I’m so glad I took a chance…I loved it. If you have ever eaten the stocks of broccoli, and like them, then you will love this. It’s bit sweeter than the stocks and not nearly as fibrous. Kholrabi comes in two colors, apple green and dark purple. The purple is supposed to be a bit sweeter than the green. So far, I have only eaten this raw or chopped and mixed in with a salad. Give this vegetable try and let me know what you think. Come on…I promise it won’t attack.
