I have a confession. I don’t own or use a microwave. That’s right, I don’t even use the microwave oven at work.
I gave up my microwave a few years ago when I was moving across the country and didn’t want to travel with so much stuff. During that time, I had become accustomed to not using one. I was much happier with how my reheated food turned out and never had soggy reheated bread. Until I started doing research on the hazards of microwaving I would still use one at work. Why? I have no idea. It was always nasty and gross. Since I rarely eat sandwiches for lunch, I had to come up with a better way to heat my meals. I thought about a small crock pot, electric skillet or toaster oven. However, none of these would be allowed in my office building. Those small coffee cup warmers were allowed; I decided it was worth a shot. I know it sounds odd, but it works. I’ve heated everything from left over pizza slices to fish. Of course soups, stews and stir fries are easy. The other items just take a bit more creative thinking. Heat safe bowls and aluminum foil are now my lunch staples. Please tell me, I’m not the only one who doesn’t use a microwave.

We do not have a microwave and do not miss it. So you are not the only one 🙂
Yeah, I don’t use a microwave either but I’ve done well without it. We pop our popcorn in a pan and reheat food in the oven or on the stove so it doesn’t really bother me. Love your site. Great recipes.
