Breads and Pastries are other easy staples to have on hand. They store and travel well. You can easily throw them in your bag and hit the door. Many packaged pastries can have a long list of unnecessary ingredients including dairy. Which is why I personally prefer to make my own. Reading labels may seem daunting at first, but as time goes on, you will be able to quickly do this. You’ll also have your favorite vegan brands committed to memory. It goes without saying Buttermilk pancakes and biscuits are out of the question.

Bread in particular has gotten a bad wrap because many pre-slice varieties can be highly processed. This allows for it to be digested quickly without providing many nutrients or benefits to the body. However, bread has been a part of the human diet for as far back as we can trace. In it’s most simple form bread can be made with only 5 ingredients (Flour, water, yeast, salt and sugar). Try to find bread with a short list of ingredients or even try a local bakery for fresh artisan style bread. It does not need to be gluten free, sprouted or organic. Just simple.
